Alaska Airlines – Aurora-inspired 787-9 livery
Neutral Digital partnered with Alaska Airlines to create cinematic CGI animations showcasing the debut of their new livery – inspired by the natural wonder of the Aurora Borealis.
Task
Create high-impact CGI animations of Alaska Airlines’ new 787-9 exterior livery, highlighting the Aurora Borealis design inspiration and supporting the airline’s global brand relaunch.
Capturing the Aurora Borealis in motion.
The new 787-9 livery reflects both Alaska’s heritage and its international ambitions. Neutral Digital’s task was to visualise this bold evolution in a way that captured the vibrancy of the aurora-inspired palette – deep midnight blues and emerald greens – and the flowing aura lines that express light, motion, and continuity across the aircraft.
Working in close collaboration with Alaska Airlines’ brand team, we produced cinematic exterior CGI sequences that framed the aircraft in dynamic skies, emphasising the bold new design while also nodding to historic elements such as the retro-inspired horizontal fuselage stripe.
Cinematic storytelling through CGI in motion.
The animations were designed to do more than show paint on metal. Each sequence was art-directed to capture the energy and emotion of the aurora itself – with lighting, colour grading, and atmospheric effects reinforcing the sense of wonder that the livery is meant to embody.
Our visuals provided Alaska Airlines with campaign-ready content for press, digital channels, and social media – ensuring the new global identity made a strong first impression long before the first Dreamliner entered service.
From stunning launch to global expansion.
The CGI animations formed a core part of Alaska’s global announcement, which also revealed new long-haul destinations including London, Reykjavík, and Rome for spring 2026. By presenting the 787-9 in striking, aurora-inspired motion, the campaign positioned Alaska as a carrier with bold ambitions and a brand identity ready for the global stage.
